Professional Learning Empowerment  Tracking

An organization building a full structured literacy system will need to train and empower all staff connected to literacy. The tool and process below helps you start and manage that plan. Before starting, you should have a strong understanding of Science of Reading/Structured Literacy Professional Learning Options. Objective:

  • Create an Overarching Plan for Structured Literacy Awareness and Empowerment for the entire organization

    • Completed tool will allow you to document and track base awareness and educator empowerment across all roles and academic years.

    • Option to limit plan to specific grade level bands and/or roles.

1) Identify training needs by personnel group

2) Detail out training regimen by empowerment type.

3) Keep track of all cohorts with success metrics.

  • Open this document and make a copy to your folders. You may choose to download as an excel but some formatting may change.

    1. Default roles and suggested training levels have been provided.

    2. Adjust roles and training levels if desired.

    3. Add counts to Personnel Groups

    4. By Personnel Group and Training Level, indicate if the training by role is to-be-determined, being developed, active, or complete. If you begin using this tool after training has begun for some cohorts, you will want to complete all previous information. 

    5. The Catch-up column is typically completed in future years after initial training has begun.

    1. Adjust the Training Types if desired.

    2. Replace Summary text for each training type with information of what the training regimen will be and how success will be measured.

    1. As you identify cohorts for each type of training and group of staff, track the cohort on this tab.

    2. Add additional columns as needed, but defaults to include Cohort Name, Type, Start Date, End Date, Status, Count, % Complete, % hitting any defined success metric.
